Montreal Juniors News Release

The Montreal Juniors finished their two game weekend road trip with another victory, this time over the Chicoutimi Sagueneens 4-3 at the George Vezina Centre in Chicoutimi.

Montreal opened the scoring at the 13:10 mark of the first period on a point shot from Xavier Ouellette. Chicoutimi tied the score on a power play goal by former Montreal Junior Guillaume Asselin.

Chicoutimi took the lead at the 16:00 mark of the second on a goal by Alexandre Lavoie. But that lead was short lived as Montreal stormed back with two goals sixteen seconds apart. Once again it was Xavier Ouellette providing the spark with his fourth goal of the campaign and second of the evening at 17:35. The Sagueneens could barely catch their breath before Charles Landry made it 3-2 Montreal with a rifle shot from the point at 17:51.

The third period saw the teams trade scoring chances before Rock Regimbald tied the score at the 16:23 mark. It looked like the teams were heading for overtime until Charles Landry's shot snatched victory away for the Juniors the 17:59 mark of the third. Chicoutimi pulled their goalie, but to no avail as the Juniors skated away with the 4-3 victory before a disappointed crowd of 3202 at the George Vezina Centre.

J-F Berube picked up his second victory in as many days, stopping 19 of 22 shots he faced. Montreal peppered Chicoutimi goalie Francis Desrosier with 38 shots to hand him the loss in his first start of the season for Chicoutimi.

NOTES: Montreal is once again on the road next week when they visit Shawinigan on Friday and Drummondville on Sunday.
