Cleveland Monsters News Release
SAN ANTONIO, TX - The AHL's defending Calder Cup Champions, the Cleveland Monsters, proudly powered by Constellation, were defeated by the San Antonio Rampage on Tuesday at AT&T Center by a final score of 4-0. With the loss, the Monsters fell to 27-26-3-4 overall this season and with a .508 points percentage, currently sit alone in sixth place in the AHL's Central Division standings.
San Antonio's Gabriel Bourque made Cleveland pay for a defensive-zone turnover in the game's opening minute, as an even-strength Bourque wrister made it 1-0 Rampage at 0:33 of the first before San Antonio extended their lead to 2-0 with a Troy Bourke even-strength finish at 3:33 of the second period.
In the final frame, the Rampage pushed their edge to 4-0 with five-on-five finishes from Shawn Ouellette-St. Amant and Chris Bigras at 9:30 and 10:44, respectively, to establish San Antonio's final margin of victory. Cleveland's Anton Forsberg fell to 18-14-3 in net this season despite stopping 22 shots on Tuesday, while Spencer Martin posted a 24-save shutout for the Ramage to improve to 17-18-2 between the pipes this year.
