
Monsters Sign Veteran Forward Mike Brown to PTO

CLEVELAND - The AHL's defending Calder Cup Champions, the Cleveland Monsters, proudly powered by Constellation, announced Tuesday that veteran forward Mike Brown signed a 25-game PTO contract with the team on Sunday. A 5'11", 205 lb. right-handed native of Northbrook, IL, Brown, 31, participated in training camp this season with the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, supplying one shot and eight penalty minutes in two preseason appearances.
A fifth round pick by the Vancouver Canucks (159th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Brown logged 19-17-36 with 778 penalty minutes and a -36 rating in 407 combined appearances for Vancouver, the Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, San Jose Sharks and Montreal Canadiens spanning parts of nine NHL seasons from 2007-16. In 189 career AHL games played for the Manitoba Moose spanning parts of three seasons from 2005-08, Brown notched 20-11-31 with 534 penalty minutes and a -2 rating.
Prior to his professional career, Brown posted 11-10-21 with 146 penalty minutes and a +22 rating in 77 NCAA appearances for the University of Michigan spanning two seasons from 2003-05. Brown will wear number 13 for the Monsters.
