April 5, 2017 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Cleveland Monsters News Release

MOINES, IA - The AHL's defending Calder Cup Champions, the Cleveland Monsters, proudly powered by Constellation, were defeated in overtime on Tuesday by the Iowa Wild at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, IA by a final score of 2-1. With the overtime loss, the Monsters are now 35-28-4-4 overall this season and with a .549 points percentage, currently trail the fourth-place Charlotte Checkers for the Central Division's final playoff spot by one thousandth of one percentage point with five games remaining the Monsters' regular-season schedule.

After a scoreless opening period, it took until the middle frame's final seconds at 19:52 before Wild defenseman Gustav Olofsson took advantage of a bad bounce near the front of the Cleveland net to deliver Iowa a 1-0 lead at even strength.

In the third, Cleveland's Zac Dalpe extended the AHL's longest active goal streak to five games with a power-play redirection of a Dean Kukan shot at 9:04 with Daniel Zaar providing the secondary assist on the play. Dalpe's tally forced overtime, but at 1:07 of the extra session, Tyler Graovac potted the decisive score at even-strength to deliver Iowa a 2-1 victory.

Cleveland net-minder Anton Forsberg stopped 31 of the 33 pucks he faced on Tuesday to fall to 24-16-4 this season while Iowa's Alex Stalock improved to 21-16-7 between the pipes by virtue of a 34-save performance.

Next up for the Monsters, it's a Friday road clash vs. the Milwaukee Admirals with full coverage, live from UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena in Milwaukee, WI, underway at 8:00 pm on 99X and the Monsters Hockey Network.
