
Monsters Announce Four Roster Moves

CLEVELAND - The AHL's Cleveland Monsters, top affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, announced Monday that the Blue Jackets loaned forward Yegor Chinakhov to the Monsters and reassigned defenseman Ole Julian Bjorgvik-Holm to the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones while Cleveland loaned forwards Roman Ahcan and Jake Gaudet to Cincinnati.
A 6'1", 204 lb. left-shooting native of Omsk, Russia, Chinakhov, 22, was originally selected by the Blue Jackets in the first round (21st overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. In 92 career NHL appearances, all for Columbus, spanning parts of two seasons from 2021-23, Chinakhov registered 11-16-27 with 26 penalty minutes. In eight career AHL appearances, all for Cleveland, spanning parts of two seasons from 2021-23, Chinakhov logged 4-5-9 with a +4 rating. Prior to his North American professional career, Chinakhov notched 10-7-17 with six penalty minutes in 32 appearances for Avangard Omsk in Russia's KHL in 2020-21 and added 5-2-7 with 24 penalty minutes and a +1 rating in 21 playoff appearances that season, helping Avangard Omsk claim the 2021 Gagarin Cup as KHL Playoff Champions. Also in 2020-21, Chinakhov claimed the Aleksi Cherepanov Award as the KHL's Rookie of the Year and represented Russia at the IIHF U20 World Junior Championship.
A 6'4", 198 lb. left-shooting native of Oslo, Norway, Bjorgvik-Holm, 21, was originally selected by Columbus in the fifth round (145th overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. In 41 career AHL appearances, all for the Monsters, spanning parts of two seasons from 2020-21 and 2022-23, Bjorgvik-Holm contributed 1-6-7 with 14 penalty minutes. In 19 ECHL appearances for the Kalamazoo Wings during the 2022-23 season, Bjorgvik-Holm tallied 1-3-4 with 23 penalty minutes and a +1 rating. Prior to his professional career, Bjorgvik-Holm supplied 5-27-32 with 129 penalty minutes in 111 career OHL appearances for the Mississauga Steelheads spanning parts of two seasons from 2019-20 and 2012-22. In 2018-19, Bjorgivk-Holm logged an even rating in two appearances for the USHL's Tri-City Storm and internationally, Bjorgvik-Holm represented Norway at the 2020-21 and 2022-23 IIHF World Championships.
A 5'10", 177 lb. left-shooting native of Savage, MN, Ahcan, 24, contributed 11-13-24 with 49 penalty minutes in 94 career AHL appearances, all for the Monsters, spanning parts of two seasons from 2021-23. Prior to his professional career, Ahcan tallied 34-40-74 with 243 penalty minutes and a +3 rating in 130 career NCAA appearances for the University of Wisconsin spanning four seasons from 2018-22 and helped the Badgers claim the 2020-21 Big Ten Regular-Season Championship. In 2017-18, Ahcan posted 15-23-38 with 63 penalty minutes and a +13 rating in 59 appearances for the USHL's Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
A 6'2", 205 lb. left-shooting native of Ottawa, ON, Gaudet, 27, posted 4-9-13 with 25 penalty minutes in 68 career AHL appearances, all for the Monsters, spanning parts of three seasons from 2020-23. In six appearances for the ECHL's Kalmazoo Wings in 2021-22, Gaudet suppiled 0-1-1 with four penalty minutes. Prior to his professional career, Gaudet contributed 20-33-53 with 132 penalty minutes and a +36 rating in 124 career NCAA appearances for the University of Massachusetts spanning parts of four seasons from 2017-21. In 2020-21, Gaudet wore the captain's "C" for UMass and helped capture Hockey East's Regular-Season and Tournament Championships and the NCAA National Championship.
