WEEK IN REVIEW
The Monarchs opened the North Division Semifinals on home ice over the weekend, and came out with a 2-0 series lead.
Friday, the Monarchs took Game 1 against the Adirondack Thunder by a score of 3-1. Manchester grabbed a two-goal lead on goals by David Kolomatis and Daniel Doremus before the Thunder made it, 2-1, late in the second period. The score remained the same throughout a fast-paced third period until Quentin Shore potted an empty-netter to seal the Monarchs victory. Sam Brittain made the start in net and made 24 saves for his first career playoff victory.
Saturday night, it was the Thunder who took an early lead, but Matt Leitner's 1st goal of the playoffs tied the game heading to the second period. Adirondack took the lead for a second time 2:10 into the middle frame, but Manchester answered with a goal by Shore to even the score heading into the third period. The final stanza was all Monarchs as Ashton Rome scored on the power play at 4:58, and Leitner added an empty-net-goal to preserve the Manchester victory. Brittain grabbed the win in net with 22 saves.
