
Monarchs To Host Seattle Storm In 2008 Preseason Game

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., Feb. 20, 2008 - The Sacramento Monarchs today announced that the team will play two preseason games prior to the start of the 2008 WNBA regular season, to include hosting the Seattle Storm on Friday, May 2, at 7 p.m. PDT, at ARCO Arena. The Monarchs will play their final preseason game on the road, in Tampa, Florida, when they take on the Washington Mystics, on Monday, May 5, at 7 p.m. EDT, at the University of Tampa.
The Seattle contest will be the 10th preseason match up between these to teams with Sacramento leading the all-time preseason series 6-3 (4-1 home and 2-2 away). Last year, during the 2007 regular season, Sacramento swept the three-game series (2-0 home, 1-0 road).
Sacramento will head to Tampa for their final game of the preseason as the face the Washington Mystics for the first time in franchise preseason history. During the 2007 season the Monarchs swept the two-game series over the Mystics. Sacramento currently leads the all-time series, 15-3.
The Monarchs will open the WNBA season on May 17, at ARCO Arena, at 7 p.m. PDT, as they take on their 2007 WNBA Playoff first round opponent, the San Antonio Silver Stars.
The 2008 WNBA Draft will be held in April. Sacramento currently holds the 10th overall pick (First Round) in the upcoming Draft and two third round selections (38th and 40th overall).
