MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have released defenseman Johann Kroll from his professional tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
Kroll, 25, played in 12 games with the Monarchs this season picking up one assist and eight penalty minutes. He has also played in 26 games with the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays this season and recorded eight points (1-78) and 14 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Plymouth, Minnesota also appeared in two games with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins this season. Kroll has collected four assists in 46 AHL games with the Monarchs, Griffins, Hershey Bears, Syracuse Crunch and Rochester Americans in the past two seasons. He spent a majority of his rookie season, 2008-09, with the Stingrays where he registered 22 points (1-2122) and 31 penalty minutes.
A 2008 graduate of Ohio State University, Kroll finished his college career with 27 points (5-2227) and 177 penalty minutes in 153 games from 2004-08.
