INSIDE THE SERIES

The Monarchs took command of the North Division Finals in Game 4 with a 6-1 win over the Beast. Manchester has managed to shut down the high-powered Brampton offense and has only allowed two goals in their three victories. A key to the Monarchs success has been eliminating the effectiveness of David Pacan and David Vallorani. Combined, Brampton's top two regular season scorers have just two assists in the series, and have posted a -10 rating on the stat sheet. During the regular season the two combined for 165 points, including 73 goals and a +21 rating.

SHUTDOWN SAM

Sam Brittain has saved his best for the second round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs, and has posted a 1.25 goals against average and a .955 save percentage against the Beast. Brittain now ranks second among goaltenders in the playoffs with a 1.90 goals against average and fourth in save percentage at .934. Brittain leads all playoff goaltenders with seven victories.

TAKE THE PENALTIES, WE'LL KILL THEM

The Monarchs have the best penalty-kill unit working in the playoffs at 93.2%, having only allowed three goals during their 44 penalty kills, including going 17-for-18 on the kill against the Beast. The Monarchs rookies have racked up plenty of penalty minutes in the playoffs, with Kevin Morris (20), Colton Saucerman (16) and Craig Wyszomirski (15) all in the top five in penalty minutes among rookies.

WHERE HAS THE SCORING GONE?

During the regular season, the Beast ranked 8th in the league and scored 3.65 goals per game, but have seen their offensive output drop to 15th among playoff teams to 1.70 goals per game. The struggles of Vallorani and Pacan have been the keystone to the lack of offense for the Beast, but Brandon Marino, who ranked 16th in the league with 72 points in the regular season, has only put up five points in the playoffs, including zero against the Monarchs.
