Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa - Jared Moe helped the Waterloo Black Hawks climb in the USHL Western Conference standings last week; his three performances gave him a boost in the team's record book and led the United States Hockey League to name him Goaltender of the Week.

The Black Hawks defeated the Sioux City Musketeers 4-0 Tuesday, then topped the Dubuque Fighting Saints Friday and Saturday, 4-2 and 5-0 respectively. Moe was in net for all three games. He made 21 saves in the first shutout and 25 in the second. Adding up the week, Moe's 69 saves on 71 shots divide out to a 97.2% save percentage. For the year, he now ranks fifth in the league in goals-against average (2.81), is tied for fifth in save percentage (90.5%), and is seventh in wins (13).

The results moved Waterloo into a tie with the Des Moines Buccaneers for second place in the USHL Western Conference.

Moe also moved into a tie on the Hawks' junior era wins list; his 36 regular season victories match C.J. Motte for fourth in the club record book. His five shutouts equal Motte, Cal Petersen, Robbie Beydoun, and Drew O'Connell for third in that category.

Moe won a Goaltender of the Week award last season. He joins defenseman James Marooney as the only other Black Hawk to win a USHL weekly player award in 2018/19. Moe is a 2018 Winnipeg Jets draft pick and is committed to the University of Minnesota.

The Hawks play their next game Thursday versus the Omaha Lancers. It's an OP College Night, presented by The Other Place restaurants; tickets are $9 for college students on game day or $8 in advance. To order, call the Domino's Black Hawks Box Office at (319) 291-7680.
