Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

Never mind that the Quad Cities River Bandits will be on the road for Earth Day. With some help from Modern Woodmen of America, that will not stop the club from giving back to the environment.

On Thursday, April 16, the two organizations will host the Modern Woodmen Community Shred at Modern Woodmen Park. Community members are encouraged to bring documents for free, confidential and secure destruction by Cintas Document Management, and fans that do so will be rewarded with a free berm ticket to that night's game against the Peoria Chiefs. The contest will also be the first Thirst-day Thursday of the season, featuring $2.00 draft beer and fountain Pepsi products, as well as College Night.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with Modern Woodmen of America on such a great idea," said River Bandits owner Dave Heller. "We appreciate the opportunity to join their efforts to better the community and are excited about the positive impact we can have to make the Quad Cities a better place. This is precisely the kind of activity that makes Modern Woodmen of America such a great corporate partner."

Modern Woodmen was recently recognized by Cintas with an Environmental Award. Through their document management efforts, Modern Woodmen of America has saved 321 trees, 7,168 gallons of oil, 132,041 gallons of water and 57 cubic yards of landfill in 2008.

"This promotion offers fans the chance to help the environment and receive a free ticket for it," said River Bandits Vice President and General Manager Kirk Goodman. "It is a win-win situation. We're proud to offer such a great promotion to our fans, and our 2009 promotional schedule is full of great opportunities for the people of the Quad Cities to support a great cause and have a great time while doing so."

UP NEXT: The River Bandits will open the 2009 regular season on the road against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Thursday. The Modern Woodmen Park home-opener against the Beloit Snappers will take place on Monday, April 13, at 3:00 p.m. and will feature a magnet schedule giveaway for the first 2,000 fans. That marks the start of a seven-game homestand in which the River Bandits will be at home from April 13-18. On Tuesday, April 21, the park will play host to NCAA Division I baseball for the first time with a match-up between the University of Iowa and Western Illinois.

ABOUT THE BANDITS: Under new ownership and management in 2008, the Quad Cities River Bandits topped 207,000 fans for only the sixth time in team history and the first time in 12 years. Having recently completed one of the most successful seasons in the history of the franchise - and with a renewed dedication to fans, sponsors and the Quad Cities community - the return of the River Bandits has brought a resurgence of support for the team. BanditWear, season tickets and mini-plans, and individual game tickets are on sale for the 2009 season by calling (563) 3-BANDIT or heading to www.RiverBandits.com. But hurry - good seats are going fast!
