It's time to play ball as the Cedar Rapids Kernels premiere the 2009 season with a three game series with the Beloit Snappers starting Thursday at 6:35 pm - here's a rundown of what you can expect each day:
April 9-11 vs. Beloit Snappers
It's time to play ball on Thursday, April 9 and the Kernels host the Beloit Snappers starting at 6:35 pm. It's Premiere Night as the Kernels turn Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium into a Hollywood Movie Premiere. The whole evening takes on a movie gala appearance: stroll down the red carpet and walk down the Kernels very own walk of fame, compete with stars. It's a 100.7 The Fox Thirsty Thursday where fans can enjoy 12-ounce draft beer for $1.50. 2009 Kernels Magnet Schedules, presented by Mercy Community Physicians, will be passed out when the gates open at 5:30 pm, and the Kernels welcome special guests from Taft Middle School and GWE Academy.
Get a head start to your weekend with Z 102.9 Progressive Beer Friday when the Kernels take on Beloit at 6:35. You'll want to be here when the gates open at 5:35 pm, as 16-ounce draft beer starts at $1 and goes up a dollar an hour until it reaches full price.
The Kernels and Snappers wrap up the first series of the season with a 2:05 game on Saturday, April 11. Youngsters can take part in a pre-game Easter Egg Hunt on the field starting at 1:15 pm. And, it's a 'Diamonds and Ice' day as fans can show their ticket stub from Friday's Cedar Rapids Roughriders playoff game for a ticket discount, and then Kernels fans can show their ticket stub from Saturday's game and get a discount on game 2 playoff tickets when the Roughriders take on the Indiana Ice at 7 pm at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. The Kernels welcome special guests from Horn Elementary to their day at the ballpark. Gates open at 1:05 pm.
