Dayton's Fifth Third Field on List of Nation's Top Parks
April 8, 2009 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Dayton Dragons News Release
DAYTON, OH-The home of the Dayton Dragons, Fifth Third Field, has been selected among the 10 Minor League Ballparks in the nation by Baseball America, the industry trade publication. Fifth Third Field was listed as the seventh best ballpark in America, the highest ranking of any Single-A facility.
"We are very pleased to be named one of the top 10 ballparks by Baseball America," noted Dragons General Manager, Gary Mayse. "We have a great architectural design, had a great construction team, and for the past nine seasons our staff has worked tirelessly to maintain Fifth Third Field to very high standards of operation. Mandalay continues to provide us with the resources to add and improve to the stadium each season, and our service and entertainment staffs continue to do an excellent job with our fans."
Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas was listed at number five on the list. Like the Dragons, the Frisco RoughRiders are operated by Mandalay Baseball.
Baseball American listed the following explanation for the selection process:
"Ballpark experts from around the minors were polled when putting together our Top 10 Ballparks list. Minor league officials, club personnel, architects and promoters were among the many surveyed. Although no votes were tallied, the list below is based on their opinions."
