MLB Veteran Jordan Pacheco Signs with Ducks

(Central Islip, N.Y.) - The three-time Atlantic League champion Long Island Ducks today announced the signing of catcher Jordan Pacheco. He begins his first season with the Ducks and 11th in professional baseball.
"Jordan's ability to play multiple positions will be a valuable addition to our roster," said Ducks President/GM Michael Pfaff. "We look forward to having him join the team and are excited to welcome another Major League veteran to Long Island."
Pacheco spent six seasons at the game's highest level, including parts of four seasons with the Colorado Rockies (2011-14), two with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2014-15) and one with the Cincinnati Reds (2016). In 377 MLB games, he compiled a .272 batting average, 10 home runs, 114 RBI, 98 runs and 62 doubles. The Albuquerque native made his Major League debut on September 6, 2011 and collected a single off of Diamondbacks pitcher Josh Collmenter in his first at bat. He later collected his first two RBIs during the game on a groundout and a single. The 31-year-old played 31 MLB games with the Reds in 2016 while also spending time with Louisville (AAA, Reds) and Gwinnett (AAA, Braves).
The University of Mexico alum was named an MiLB.com Organization All-Star in 2010 with the Rockies after combining to post a .323 batting average, six homers, 89 RBI, 70 runs and 151 hits in 125 games between Advanced-A Modesto and Double-A Tulsa. He was named a California League Mid-Season and Post-Season All-Star that season as well. In 2009, Pacheco earned South Atlantic League Most Valuable Player honors and was chosen as a Mid-Season and Post-Season All-Star with Single-A Asheville. He has played 563 career minor league games entering 2017 and has accrued a .297 batting average, 32 homers, 323 RBI and 300 runs along with a .989 fielding percentage as a catcher. Pacheco was originally drafted by the Rockies in the ninth round of the 2007 amateur draft.
In a corresponding roster move, the Ducks have released catcher Dominic Blanco.
