BILLINGS, Mont. - Trevor Mitsui drove in five runs and Missoula (16-21) rolled to a 9-3 victory over Billings (16-21) at Dehler Park. Dallas Newton (2-1) earned the win with two runs off eight hits, a walk, and two strikeouts in 6.1 innings.
Mitsui opened up the scoring with an RBI single in the first to give Missoula an early lead. The rookie would give Missoula the lead again in the sixth inning following two runs by Billings in the home half of the fifth inning. His bases-loaded single produced two more RBI to score Sergio Alcantara and Justin Williams. Kevin Cron also scored on the play thanks to a throwing error from Mustangs centerfielder Brian O'Grady.
Mitsui stepped up with two outs and the bases loaded in the seventh and came through again, this time with his ninth double of the season down the left field line.
Missoula added a run in the eighth when Dane McFarland scored on a wild pitch after leading off the inning with a double.
The Osprey put two more runs on the board in the ninth inning and finished with eleven hits to end a four-game losing streak. Mitsui finished 3-5 with a season-high five RBI. Justin Williams went 3-4 with an RBI and now holds a nineteen game hitting streak.
Tyler Mahle (2-4) took the loss for Billings with four earned runs off four hits in five innings. He walked two batters and struck out six O's.
