Mitchell Promoted to Charlotte

The Birmingham Barons and Chicago White Sox have announced that OF Jared Mitchell has been promoted to Class AAA Charlotte. In addition, INF Dan Black and RHP David Cales has been transferred from Class AAA Charlotte to Birmingham. Roster at 25.

Mitchell, 25, begins his second stint with the Knights this season after hitting .299 (47-for-157) with 10 home runs, 32 runs and 20 RBI in 39 games with the Barons. He was transferred from Charlotte to Birmingham on June 15 after hitting .199 (31-for-156) with five home runs, 23 runs and 14 RBI in 53 games with the Knights.

Black, 27, returns to Birmingham for the second time this season. He began the season in Charlotte and was transferred to Birmingham on June 27 where he hit .292 (19-for-65) with three home runs, seven runs and 13 RBI in 17 games. He was transferred back to Charlotte on July 17. In 48 games with the Knights this season, Black is hitting .267 (44-for-165) with six home runs, 22 runs and 21 RBI. After returning to Charlotte on July 17, he hit 355 (11-for-31) with five runs and seven RBI in 10 games.

Cales, 27, was promoted to Charlotte from Birmingham on July 25 and made one appearances with the Knights allowing four runs on seven hits over 4.0 IP on July 26.

He began the season in Birmingham going 2-0 with a 4.54 ERA (21 ER/41.2 IP) with 41 strikeouts in 21 appearances including two starts.
