Mitch O'Keefe Agrees to Terms with Wranglers

Las Vegas, Nev. - The Las Vegas Wranglers(r) announced today that they have agreed to terms with goalie Mitch O'Keefe for the 2011-12 season. This will be his first season with the Wranglers.

The 6'2, 210-pound goaltender played for HK Jesenice in the Austrian Hockey League (EBEL) for the 2010-11 season. O'Keefe, 27, appeared in 13 games with a 3.98 goals-against average and .866 save percentage.

"[Playing in Europe] was a great experience, with a lot of ups and down through my season, but I feel like I came out of it a stronger player," O'Keefe said. "I'm just excited to be back in North America, and I've been training hard all summer, ready to get the season going."

During his 2009-10 season with the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL), O'Keefe was 18-13-5 with two shutouts, a 3.18 goals-against average and .896 save percentage across 42 games. His 2008-09 season started with the Elmira Jackals (ECHL), where he went 16-12-2 with a 3.16 goals-against average and .888 save percentage. Towards the end of the season, O'Keefe earned a call-up from the AHL's Binghamton Senators (AHL) and notched a 2.10 goals-against average and .943 save percentage. His first professional season was with the Iowa Stars (AHL) in 2007-08 (2.35 GAA, .939 SV%).

"Mitch O'Keefe is an accomplished goaltender with AHL experience," General Manager and Head Coach Ryan Mougenel said. "I have always been impressed with his play whenever I had to coach against him. I am excited to have him onboard for the upcoming season.

The Wranglers host Opening Night, billed as "The Last Professional Hockey Game on Earth," on Friday, October 21st, 2011 at 7:05 PM against Ontario Reign. 2011-12 season seat packages are on sale now at (702) 471-PUCK. The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at the Orleans Area, located adjacent to the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
