Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, AK- Trevor Ludwig and Josh Holmstrom scored second period goals, and goaltender Josh Robinson made 28 saves to lead the Missouri Mavericks over the Alaska Aces 3-1 Sunday afternoon at the Sullivan Arena.

After a scoreless first period, Ludwig took a thread-the-needle backdoor pass from Rocco Carzo and popped the puck past Aces goaltender Troy Redmann (28 saves) at 1:44 of the second period on the power play. Holmstrom at 17:43 made it a 2-0 game as both teams battled in the evenly-played game.

The Aces had some great opportunities but couldn't crack Robinson until the 18:29 mark of the third period when defenseman Landon Oslanski's shot zipped through a Joe Perry screen and over Robinson's shoulder into the top corner of the net just as the Aces were in the process of getting Redmann off the ice for an extra attacker.

C. J. Ludwig completed the scoring with an empty net goal at 19:48.

The Mavericks took two out of the three games in the season-opening series after the two teams split exhibition games earlier in the week.

Alaska will entertain the Idaho Steelheads starting this Wednesday at the Sullivan Arena.
