Missoula Wins Again, Trails First by Three

Winning their third-straight game, the Missoula Osprey (38-31, 18-13) defeated the Idaho Falls Chukars (29-39, 8-23), 3-2, at Ogren Park at Allegiance Field. Missoula's Friday night win, combined with a Billings loss in Great Falls, draws the Osprey to three games out of first in the North with seven games to play.

Osprey pitchers collected 14 total strikeouts against Idaho Falls batters. In the last three nights, Missoula's pitching staff has struck out 35 batters, making it 700 total in 2019. The Osprey continue to close in on their 2011 record of the team record for strikeouts in a season at 738.

Idaho Falls pitcher Cole Watts balked to Tristen Carranza at the plate, giving Curpa 2nd. Carranza slapped a grounder to Chukars' third-baseman Kember Nacero, who sailed the throw to first. Curpa scored the go-ahead Osprey run in the 8th, setting Mitchell Stumpo (W, 1-0) up for the win.

The Missoula Osprey take Ogren Park at Allegiance Field for their final regular season game Saturday night, gates opening at 6 and first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm MDT to wrap the two-game Idaho Falls series. Missoula plays the entire month of September on the road with two in Idaho Falls, and the final four in Billings to decide who wears the North's second-half crown into the post-season.

One Osprey fan will walk away with $10,000 in the final Launch-A-Ball of the year following Saturday's game, with the final Fireworks Extravaganza to cap the evening with a bang.
