Mississippi's Season Ends With Texas Taking Series Three Games to One

BILOXI, MS - Battling valiantly to overcome a two-goal deficit, the Mississippi Sea Wolves fell short as Texas got third period goals from Toby LaFrance and Kevin Baker to win Game Four of the South Division Quarterfinals 5-3 and win the series three games to one.

Texas got on the board early when Ryan Munce couldn't find the rebound of LaFrance's shot from the right side and Justin Morrison poked it past him for a 1-0 Texas lead. Cleve Kinley added his first power play goal of the game less than two minutes later when he hammered home a backdoor pass from Kevin Baker at 2:34. The Sea Wolves would get on the board when Marek Kvapil banged Jason Tejchma's centering pass through Texas goaltender Anton Khudobin at 8:38 of the first period. Andy Contois was awarded a penalty shot at 9:49 of the opening frame, but was denied when Khudobin directed the puck to the corner with his blocking glove. Cleve Kinley would add his second power play goal of the game at 13:19 of the first, this time blasting Brandon Benedict's backdoor pass into the net.

Michael Couch drew Mississippi within one when he hammered a puck past Khudobin as the Sea Wolves were about to go on the power play. The Sea Wolves would tie the game as Gio Flamminio's shot from the high slot beat Khudobin on the power play at 6:08 of the third period.

Less than a minute and a half later, Toby LaFrance found a loose puck on the left side of the crease and poked it into the net as Sea Wolves goalie Ryan Munce was down and out of the play at 8:24. Kevin baker would add an insurance goal for Texas at 15:06.

Ryan Munce made 34 saves, earning the loss, and Mississippi was 2-for-9 on the power play.
