PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves defeated the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp by a final score of 8-6 on Friday night. First baseman, Tyler Marlette led the M-Braves to victory with an extra-inning walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning.

The M-Braves got off to a fast start in Friday night's contest when leadoff hitter, Michael Reed launched a line drive home run well over the left-center field wall, giving the M-Braves a 1-0 lead.

The Jumbo Shrimp captured a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning on a John Norwood ground ball single to center field which allowed both Cade Gotta and Monte Harrison to score.

Jacksonville tacked on a third run in the top of the fourth inning after Gotta drew a bases-loaded walk, allowing Brian Schales to score from third base.

Mississippi managed to cut the scoring deficit to one run in the bottom of the fourth inning after Tyler Neslony, who tripled earlier in the inning, scored easily from third base on a sacrifice fly from Travis Demeritte.

Leading 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning, Jacksonville collected their fourth run of the game courtesy of a double off of the bat of Schales. Norwood scored on the Schales double.

Mississippi starter, Bryse Wilson (1-0, 3.74), exited the game after tossing 6.0 innings. The hard throwing right-hander tied his season high after recording 8 K's in Friday night's contest.

The bottom of the sixth inning proved to be the difference in the game as Mississippi stormed back to score three runs in the inning. Newly acquired Luis Marte made his first career hit as an M-Brave memorable by roping a line drive RBI single to left field, scoring Tyler Marlette. Connor Lien immediately followed with a go ahead bases clearing double, making the score 5-4 in favor of the M-Braves.

Jacksonville would not go quietly, as they tied the game 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth inning on an Eric Jagielo sacrifice fly.

Tied 5-5 in the top of the 10th inning, Jacksonville grabbed a 6-5 lead after Diaz produced a sacrifice fly. Jacksonville's one run lead quickly diminished in the bottom of the 10th inning after Neslony roped a game tying RBI single to center field.

The Friday night fireworks then came a tad bit early as Marlette launched a walk-off home run over the left-center field wall to give the M-Braves an 8-6 victory over the Jumbo Shrimp.

Mississippi relief pitcher, Chad Sobotka (1-0, 0.00) earned the win while Jacksonville reliever, Kyle Keller (1-1, 10.80) suffered the loss as well as a blown save. Adam McCreery was credited with a hold, his third of the 2018 season.
