CORPUS CHRISTI-Keyvius Sampson turned in his best outing of the season as the Missions gained a split in the four game series and moved to within two games of the first-place Hooks Thursday night in front of 4,741 at Whataburger Field.

Sampson worked 5.1 innings, allowing only a first inning run. He threw 67% of his pitches for strikes.

Adam Buschini broke a 1-1 tie with a homerun to start the fifth inning.

Kalian Sams continued his incredible start with the club when he launched a three-run homer to right-center in the seventh.

Sams has played only nine games with the team since signing as a minor league free agent, yet he's tied for the team lead in homeruns with six and has driven in 15 runs. He also added a double.

Rico Noel continued his torrid May by reaching base three times, scoring once and driving home a run. Noel has a 16 game on-base streak.
