Frisco RoughRiders News Release

The Frisco RoughRiders (26-14) surrendered a late lead Friday night as they fell, 8-4, to the visiting San Antonio Missions (20-20) in front of 10,216 fans at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

The 'Riders looked good early as they roughed up San Antonio ace Will Inman for four runs in four innings. Inman entered the game with an ERA of just 1.85. Elvis Andrus gave Frisco the early lead with a single to lead off the bottom of the first before later scoring on a Max Ramirez single. San Antonio rebounded with a pair of runs in the second inning to take a 2-1 lead. Ray Chang delivered a two run double for the Missions.

Steve Murphy's solo home run in the third inning tied the game at two. The home run was Murphy's sixth of the season. A Craig Gentry single gave Frisco the lead when he plated Dustin Majewski in the fourth. The 'Riders extended their lead to two at 4-2 when Gentry stole home on a perfectly executed double steal.

The Frisco lead was short lived as San Antonio tied the game in the fifth with a pair of runs. Kyle Blanks and Craig Cooper each had a RBI hit in the inning for the Missions.

The game remained tied in a battle of the bullpens until the ninth inning. The Missions scored four times off of Kendy Batista (2-2) to win the game. Kyle Blanks, Cooper, Chang, and Sean Kazmar all drove in a run during the inning for the Missions.

In his RoughRiders debut, starter Zack Parker allowed four runs in five innings of work. Parker struck out four and walked three. Gabe DeHoyos (2-2) tossed two innings of scoreless relief for San Antonio to earn the victory.

The 'Riders and Missions return to Dr Pepper Ballpark Saturday night in a 7 p.m. contest. Michael Schlact (1-3, 4.73) takes the hill for Frisco while San Antonio counters with Stephen Faris (2-1, 5.63).
