
Missions Collect Eight Runs in Shutout Victory

SAN ANTONIO - Juan Fernandez, Thomas Milone, and Henry Henry was the starting pitcher for the San Antonio Missions. He allowed a base hit in the first inning and had to pitch out of a scoring opportunity in the second inning. With two outs in the top of the second inning, Anthony Prato hit a double and Nash Knight drew a walk to place two runners on base. Henry induced a ground out to end the inning.
Kody Funderburk was the starting pitcher for the Wichita Wind Surge. After a scoreless first inning, the left-hander was forced to pitch out of a jam in the bottom of the second inning. Webster Rivas began the inning with a double and advanced to third base on a sacrifice bunt from Juan Fernandez. Thomas Milone grounded out, but Rivas had to stay at third base. Connor Kaiser drew a walk but was thrown out trying to steal second base.
The Missions capitalized on multiple scoring opportunities in the bottom of the third inning. Ripken Reyes started the inning with a double. After striking out the next batter, Funderburk allowed an RBI single to Hollis. Tirso Ornelas hit a single before Yorman Rodriguez grounded into a force out. Rivas drew a walk to load the bases. Fernandez drove in two runs with a base hit to left field. Milone drove in the fourth run of the inning after reaching base on an infield single. The Missions gained a 4-0 lead.
Making his third start of the season, Henry was tough on the Wind Surge hitters through four innings of work. He allowed three base hits while issuing one walk. Henry struck out a season-best six batters on Wednesday night.
San Antonio added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Facing Cody Lawyerson, Fernandez and Milone started off the inning with back-to-back base hits. Kaiser advanced the runners with a sacrifice bunt. A wild pitch from the right-hander allowed Fernandez to score. Reyes hit a line drive into center field for an RBI single. The Missions improved their lead to 6-0.
Lake Bachar tossed a scoreless fifth inning while striking out one batter. Moises Lugo followed that up with three scoreless innings and five strikeouts. Mason Fox pitched a scoreless ninth innings for the Missions.
Post-Game Notes
With the win, San Antonio improves to 52-44 (overall), 14-15 (2nd half) on the season
Connor Hollis extends hit streak to 14 games, on-base streak to 21 games
Webster Rivas: 21-game on-base streak (all 21 games he has played with the Missions)

The San Antonio Missions will continue their six-game series with the Wichita Wind Surge on Thursday, August 4th. Left-hander Ben Krauth (0-1, 7.53) is scheduled to pitch for the Missions. Right-hander Louie Varland (7-4, 3.55) is scheduled to pitch for the Wind Surge. First pitch is expected at 7:05 p.m. from Nelson Wolff Stadium.
