Missed Opportunities Doom Dust Devils

August 23, 2016 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Tri-City Dust Devils News Release

The Tri-City Dust Devils (10-15, 28-35) were held scoreless after leaving 14 runners stranded in the 2-0 loss to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (10-15, 28-35) at Gesa Stadium on Monday night. Tri-City starter Joey Lucchesi struck out seven batters, but suffered the loss after allowing one unearned run.

There were ample chances for the Dust Devils to score throughout the game, especially in the early innings. Tri-City had the bases loaded with less than two outs in the first, second, and fourth innings. The team's best chance to bring home a run was in the fourth inning, when the bases were loaded with no outs. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit into a double play and G.K. Young struck out to end the threat. The Dust Devils ended the night 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

The pitching was solid throughout the evening for Tri-City. Braxton Lorenzini tossed four innings in relief, giving up one earned run. Southpaw Trevor Seidenberger threw a scoreless frame in the ninth inning in his second appearance with the Dust Devils.

Tri-City will send left-hander Will Headean to the mound in fourth game of the five-game on the Tuesday. Salem-Keizer will counter with left-hander Garrett Williams. It will be Fitness Night presented by Washington Physical Therapy. Great seats are available by calling the Dust Devils' front office at (509) 544-8789 or by going to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
