
Mirizzi, Cats post 6-4 comeback win

Marc Mirizzi's two-run eighth inning double put the Cats ahead as they completed the sweep of Sioux City with a 6-4 victory in front of 5,673 fans Saturday night at LaGrave Field.
The win, combined with Coastal Bend's loss drops the Cats' magic number for clinching a playoff spot to three. They improve their second half record to 28-13 to go four games up on Shreveport and 5 1/2 up on Coastal Bend with seven games to play.
In a 2-2 game going to the fifth inning, the Explorers scored once in the fifth and once in the sixth to take a 4-2 lead. In the sixth, Jorge Moreno doubled and came into score on an error. Moreno was 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs in the game.
The Cats scored a run in the seventh inning on an error. They added three in the eighth on the Mirizzi double and another error by the second baseman Robert Mendoza.
Jeff Montani, who worked two perfect innings in relief, earned the win to go to 2-1. Steve Wilkerson struck out three in the ninth for his 17th save.
Mike Nunes (3-5) took the loss for Sioux City as he allowed two runs in 2/3 of an inning. Explorers' pitching allowed 10 walks in the game. Five of those 10 base runners came in to score.
Terence Green was 3-for-4 in the game to extend his hitting streak to 10 games. Chuck Carter had two hits and an RBI as well for the Cats.
