Miracles Battle Through Storm

Moncton Miracles News Release


(Moncton, NB) The Moncton Miracles calmed the Summerside Storm and beat them with a final score of 97-86.

The game began with Miracles fans standing until Moncton scored their first basket acting as the team's 6th man. Darrell Wonge did what he does best and drained a 3 to start the game. The first quarter ended with the Miracles down 24-28 over the Storm.

With 4:30 left to play in the second quarter Sylvania Watkins took the ball to the net to tie the game up, 39-39. Moncton continued to build a lead with point guard McNally making some big shots for the team. At the end of the first half the Miracles leading 47-43.

Moncton came out strong in the third quarter and within no time had a ten-point lead that they would hold on to for the majority of the quarter. The Storm battled back and it was easy to see why they are leading the Atlantic division.

The game was tied up at 80-80 with 4:23 left to play in the game. Once the Miracles began to pull ahead the Storm had to foul to try and get the ball back, inevitably sending Moncton to the free-throw line.

Sylvania Watkins led the way for the Miracles with 26 points. Oliver McNally followed with 22 points and 8 rebounds.

Greg Plummer was the top scorer for the Storm with 24 points. Brandon Hassell was right behind him with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Miracles Oliver McNally was handed a technical foul early in the game. Storm's Brandon Hassell and Miracles Darrell Wonge were both handed unsportsmanlike fouls. Both head coaches were given technical fouls. Storm's Avery Smith was fouled out of the game with 5

The Miracles play their next game against the Summerside on Friday, November 22nd. Tip-off is 7pm at the Credit Union Place. The next home game will be Tuesday, November 27th against the Summerside Storm.
