Mill Rats Drop First Game in Double Header to Oshawa Power

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats, presented by Rogers, dropped their first game of the double header on Thursday evening at Harbour Station to the Oshawa Power with a final score of 114-100 in front of 1,988 fans.
Saint John started the game strong with Jerice Crouch sinking the first basket. The Mill Rats went on a run leading 16-22 towards the end of the first quarter after two back to back threes from Antonio Burks. They ended the quarter ahead of the Power, 22-25.
The second quarter, the Mill Rats lost steam as they battled within three points with the Power for most of the half. The Power played a tough game of defence and the Mill Rats were not able to make the shots they wanted. Ending the half, the Power lead the Mill Rats 54-47.
The second half, the Power dominated the court, netting more baskets and getting possession of more loose balls. The Power pulled ahead ending the third 84-72, and the Mill Rats were not able to battle back from the double digit point spread.
Local talent Mike Anderson played a tremendous game, hustling hard at both ends of the court. With only 19 minutes of play, he contributed 8 boards, only 1 behind Micah Brand who lead the team with 9.
Leading scorers for the Mill Rats were PJ Young with 18, Jerice Crouch with 16, while Antonio Burks and Anthony Anderson each added 15.
The Power were led by William "Bo" Harris with 24 points, Jushay Rockett with 22 and Amani Daanish with 21.
Saint John falls to 2-4 on the season while the Oshawa Power advance to 4-3.
