FORT MYERS, Fla. (July 8, 2014)- Thirty summers ago, downtown Fort Myers was the zombie capital of the world as acclaimed filmmaker George Romero began filming the third installment of his epic zombie trilogy.

Day of the Dead, featured local residents as zombie extras and the landscape of downtown Fort Myers, most prominently the Edison Theatre, the Federal Building on First Street (now the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center) and Hendry and Main streets were overrun with hordes of the undead.

Downtown Fort Myers may not have been the main filming location, the ghostly scenesofDay of the Deadare etched into the history city and celebrated annually with the wildly popular ZombiCon. On Friday, July 11, the Fort Myers Miracle will honor the zombie heritage of the city with a very special night.

When the Miracle take the field at Hammond Stadium for the 7:05 game against the Dunedin Blue Jays, they entire team will don special zombie-inspired jerseys.The jerseys will be worn for one night and one night only and fans can bid in a silent-auction for the jersey of their favorite players.Jerseys not meeting the minimum bid will then go on sale to the world throughwww.miraclebaseball.com .

"We think our zombie jerseys are a going to be a monster success,' said Miracle General Manager Andrew Seymour."They truly capture the apocalyptic horror that seems to always be present in zombie movies and we know that fans will get a big kick out of seeing them on the living rather than the undead."

Fans wearing zombie makeup or costumes will receive free admission to Friday's game. In addition to the zombie jersey auction, the Miracle are also hosting a third Used Car Giveaway of the season. Fans can register for a chance to win an Audi Wagon from Pam's Motor City by visiting the Four Points by Sheraton Guest Services booth on the main concourse.

While zombies may be scary to humans, dogs are unfazed by the living dead! Fans are welcome to bring their puppies to the ballpark for another Dog Daze of Summer.

Zombies may feed on the flesh of the living, but humans need food. On Fill'er Up Friday, fans can buy a $16 All You Can Eat wristband ($11 with already purchased ticket) with a general admission ticket to chow down on unlimited hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, peanuts, chips and fountain soda through the end of the sixth inning. The wristband gets fans $2 domestic draft beers through the sixth inning.
