FORT MYERS, FL - A second inning, nine-run offensive show on Thursday evening helped the Miracle to a 9-6 win over the Jupiter Hammerheads at Hammond Stadium.

Jupiter kicked off the scoring with a run in the first and second innings off Miracle starter Brett Lee. In the first, Austin Barnes lined a one-out single to center field and scored three batters later on a Matt Juengel base hit. The Hammerheads picked up a run the following inning on a fielding error by second baseman Tyler Grimes and led 2-0.

The Miracle attacked in the bottom of the second inning, notching nine runs on only three hits. Hammerheads starter Austin Brice issued two walks to Mike Gonzales and Niko Goodrum to start the inning. Then, a single by Stuart Turner loaded the bases. Brice (2-2) walked John Murphy, hit Adam Pettersen by a pitch and walked Travis Harrison to bring home Gonzales, Goodrum and Turner respectively.

Frankie Reed replaced Brice after 1.1 innings. Jorge Polanco cleared the bases with a grand slam onto the left field berm for his first home run of the year and brought the score to 7-2. After doubling in the seventh inning, Polanco is now hitting .333 with seven doubles and 13 RBI in his last 19 games.

After a walk to Dalton Hicks, Mike Gonzales stepped up for his second at bat of the inning and took Reed deep for a two-run homer. After Gonzales' two RBI, the Miracle lead rounded out to 9-2.

The Hammerheads got two back off Lee (2-1) in the sixth inning due in part to a pair of Miracle defensive mishaps.

Lee was relieved by Steven Gruver in the seventh. Gruver kept the Jupiter bats quiet that frame but allowed two in the eighth. Alonzo Harris tripled home Juengel and Barber to cut the Miracle lead to three runs.

Madison Boer breezed through the ninth inning for the Miracle, earning his second save and securing the 9-6 Miracle victory.

Lee totaled six innings on the night, three of which were perfect frames. He surrendered four runs, two earned, and struck out a pair to record his second win of the season.

Brice was tagged with the loss after allowing six earned runs, two hits and four walks.

The Palm Beach Cardinals will arrive for a three game series at Hammond Stadium starting on Friday, April 25. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Postgame wrestling featuring athletes from the South Florida Wrestling Alliance will take place after the final out on Friday in front of the fountain.
