Miracle Split Twin Bill With Blue Jays

DUNEDIN, Fla. - The Miracle split a doubleheader with the Dunedin Blue Jays on Tuesday afternoon at the Bobby Mattick Complex. Fort Myers took game one, 5-4. They fell in game two, 2-0.

Royce Lewis opened the scoring in game one with a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning, his ninth of the season. Ryan Noda answered with a solo blast of his own in the bottom of the frame to tie the game.

Gabriel Maciel put the Miracle back in front for good with an RBI single in the fifth. In the sixth, Andrew Bechtold delivered an RBI single and Ernie De La Trinidad launched his first home run with the Miracle, a solo shot.

Demi Orimoloye answered with a solo homer in the sixth for Dunedin and Norberto Obeso had an RBI single in the seventh, but Dunedin left the tying run on base to end the game.

Cole Sands (4-2) struck out five in 5.2 innings to earn the win. He allowed three runs on six hits and walked one. Zach Neff recorded the final four outs and struck out three to pick up his third save.

In game two, Dunedin scored both runs in the second on Cal Stevenson's two-out single. Maximo Castillo (7-5) struck out eight in five innings to earn the win.

Jhoan Duran (2-9) suffered the loss for the Miracle. He allowed two runs on four hits in four innings. He walked three and struck out five. Joe Record threw two scoreless innings out of the Miracle bullpen and struck out a pair.

The rubber game of the series will be on Wednesday afternoon at Jack Russell Memorial Stadium in Clearwater. Left-hander Tyler Watson will start for the Miracle. First pitch is 1:00 p.m. ET.
