TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Tarpons dug out of a 5-1 hole before getting shut down by Daytona pitching as the Tortugas broke a 5-5 tie in the eighth and held on to even the series with a 6-5 final on Tuesday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Wilkerman Garcia walked on four pitches to begin the bottom of the first. One out later, a base hit by Oswaldo Cabrera put runners on the corners before Garcia scored on a sacrifice fly by Alexander Palma, giving Tampa (16-18, 44-56) a 1-0 lead.

After retiring the side in order in the first, RHP Miguel Yajure faced nine batters in the second as Daytona (16-18, 51-48) took advantage of an error.

Alejo Lopez legged out an infield single, took second on a balk and scored as Bruce Yari reached on a fielding error by first-baseman Steven Sensley. One out later, Yari took third on a base hit by Drew Mount and scored on a single to left by Bryant Flete.

One out later, Andy Sugilio loaded the bases with a single, and Jose Garcia cleared them with a three-run double to the wall in left-center, giving Daytona (16-18, 51-48) a 5-1 lead

Yajure retired the next six batters he faced before yielding an infield single by Lorenzo Cedrola in the fourth, but catcher Jason Lopez caught Cedrola trying to steal second, allowing Yajure to face the minimum.

Sensley singled and took third on a double by Lopez to begin the bottom of the fourth. Kyle Gray reached on a fielding error by Alejo Lopez at second base, scoring Sensley. A wild pitch scored Lopez, but RHP Austin Orewiler retired the next three batters to preserve the 5-3 lead.

Garcia and Estevan Florial reached on back-to-back infield singles to begin the fifth and, one out later, Sensley singled to load the bases. A walk by Lopez forced home Garcia before Gray tied the game with an RBI single to left.

That proved to be the last Tarpons base runner as Orewiler retired the final five batters he faced. The 26-year-old logged a quality start, yielding five runs (three earned) on nine hits in six innings, walking two while striking out six on a season-high 105 pitches (65 strikes).

Yajure logged perfect innings in the fifth and sixth before Mount reached on a leadoff infield single in the seventh. One out later, Mount was caught stealing by Lopez, and Yajure got a pop-out by Cedrola to complete the seventh.

The 21-year-old recorded his eighth quality start of the season, facing the minimum in six-of-seven innings while yielding five runs (one earned) on seven hits, walking none while striking out seven on 103 pitches (71 strikes). It was Yajure's 11thstart of at least six innings pitched.

RHP Hobie Harris relieved Yajure in the eighth and, with one out, Garcia singled into right before taking second on a wild pickoff throw by Harris. Garcia then broke for third as Michael Beltre singled into center, scoring Garcia to give the Tortugas a 6-5 lead.

Harris (L, 2-3) got Lopez to ground into an inning-ending double-play and picked up a strikeout in a 1-2-3 ninth to keep the game close.

RHP Diomar Lopez (W, 3-1) struck out a pair while retiring all six batters he faced in the seventh and eighth before RHP Dauri Moreta (SV, 1) struck out two more in a perfect ninth. Daytona pitchers retired the final 14 Tampa batters.
