Miracle Place Four in FSL All-Star Game

FORT MYERS, FL (June 1, 2012) - Florida State League President Chuck Murphy announced today the rosters for the 2012 All-Star Game to played at Charlotte Sports Park, home of the Charlotte Stone Crabs, on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 7:05p.m. The Fort Myers Miracle will be represented on the South team by catcher Josmil Pinto, infielder Daniel Santana and pitchers Pat Dean and Ricky Bowen.

Dean leads the pitching staff with a 4-2 record and a 2.70 ERA. The Naugatuck, Connecticut native is a former 3rd pick of the Twins' in the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft from Boston College. The left-hander was 3-6 with a 6.67 ERA last year, but has rebounded this season going 4-0 in May with a 1.36 ERA.

It was nearly a year ago, that right-handed pitcher Ricky Bowen was signed as a minor league free agent and now he is a representative in the Florida State League All-Star Game. The former Mississippi State product has notched four saves in 19 relief appearances and has struck out 32 batters in 31 1/3 innings.

Infielder Daniel Santana has been a pleasant surprise for the Miracle in 2012. The slick fielding middle infielder from Monte Plata, Dominican Republic has led the Miracle at the plate, batting a team-high .308 with three home runs and 19 RBI. He also leads the team with six stolen bases

Catcher Josmil Pinto rounds out the quartet selected to this year's mid-season classic. Now in his second year in Fort Myers, the San Joaquin, Venezuela native is hitting .259 with four home runs and 20 RBI. He was a post-season All-Star selection for the Appalachian League in 2009.

Twenty-seven Miracle players have been selected in the last five years to the Florida State League All-Star Game.

North All-Star Team members represent Brevard County, Clearwater, Daytona Beach, Dunedin, Lakeland, and Tampa. South All-Star Team members represent Bradenton, Charlotte, Fort Myers, Jupiter, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie. The All-Star Players, Coaches, and Umpires will be honored at events during the All-Star weekend.
