Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, Fla. (July 6, 2015) - Thirty years ago, Marty McFly, Doc Brown, Biff Tannen and the gang from Hill Valley catapulted to fame in the classic film Back to the Future. Fast forward to the summer of 2015 and the Fort Myers Miracle will be going Back to the Future... or is that back to, Back to the Future?
On Saturday, July 11, Good Deals Appliances, Whirlpool and the Miracle charge up the flux capacitor for a special night. An exact replica of the-no need for the Doc Brown's Delorean Time Machine will make an appearance at Hammond Stadium at the CenturyLink Sports Complex prior to a 6:05 p.m. game against the Clearwater Threshers. Fans are invited to take pictures with the Delorean and can even take a seat in the stylish time machine for a donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
The Delorean Time Machine will make appearances on Saturday afternoon at America's Mattress at 11294 South Cleveland Avenue, just south of Page Field, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Then, the Delorean will travel under the speed of 88 miles per hour over to Good Deals Appliances at 14680-4 South Cleveland Avenue on the corner of Gladiolus and US 41 from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. If our calculations are correct, the Delorean will arrive at Hammond Stadium at 4:30 p.m. Great Scott!
On the field, the Miracle players and coaching staff will don special Back to the Future-inspired jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game. Lasting through the sixth inning, the silent auction proceeds will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research.
"Packing more kick than plutonium, this night's going to bring more than 1.21 gigawatts of excitement to Hammond Stadium," said Miracle General Manager Andrew Seymour. "Everyone is going to love the Delorean and the Back to the Future jerseys!"
Back to the Future Night is presented by Good Deals Appliances, Whirlpool and iHeart Media.
Saturday will also mark the running of the inaugural Brew Dash. Presented by Fat Point Brewing, the Brew Dash is a race, while drinking beer, that will consist of three laps around the warning track of the stadium. The race begins at 5:20 p.m. and will not be officially timed. Prizes will be awarded for the top two male and female finishers. All participants must be 21 years of age. The entry fee is $25 and includes a game ticket as well as an All You Can Drink wristband for the evening.
During the game, Fat Point Brewery will be doing the second Tap Takeover of the summer at Hammond Stadium. Fat Point will occupy five draft taps at the third base bar. The All You Can Drink wristband does not apply to the Tap Takeover.
For fans that prefer sitting and drinking beer, July 11 is another SINK or SWIM Saturday. For $16, fans can purchase a general admission ticket with a wristband for All You Can Drink small domestic draft beers through the sixth inning.
