FORT MYERS, FL (July 25th, 2011) - *The Yankees jumped Miracle starter Logan Darnell for five runs on four hits in the second inning to cruise to a 6-1 series opening victory at Hammond Stadium on Monday night.

Kyle Roller led off the inning with a solo homerun, clearing the right field wall with a line drive blast. Nine hitters later, the Yankees had a 5-0 lead. Tampa would add another run in the third inning when Mitch Albeita plated Cody Johnson with a RBI single to push the advantage to six.

Fort Myers' only run came in the fifth inning. With one out, Josmil Pinto singled off Yankee starter Jose Quintana and then took second base on a wild pitch. Estarlin de los Santos quickly fell behind, 0-2, but battled back to a full count before dropping a bloop hit into center field to score Pinto.

Darnell (7-2) fell for just the second time in 13 starts, lasting 4.1 innings and allowing six runs on nine hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Ricky Bowen turned in an impressive relief performance with 3.2 scoreless innings with six strikeouts.

Quintana (8-0) picked up the win in 5.2 innings pitched. Quintana surrendered seven hits and one run while fanning four.
