Miracle cancel opening night fireworks

FORT MYERS, FL (March 30, 2007) The Fort Myers Miracle Professional Baseball team has announced today that the 2007 home opener will include baseball and fun but unfortunately, due to the dry weather, the post-game fireworks show has been canceled. The home opener is slated for Friday, April 6 at 7:05 p.m.

Due to the extremely dry weather conditions and the burn ban in Lee County, the Miracle along with the South Trail Fire and Rescue District feel it is not in the best interest or safety of the county's citizens to perform a fireworks show. Lee County Commissioners recently issued the first state of local emergency for dry conditions.

"The weather conditions right now have put the county in a scary situation. The KBI Index rating is over 700 for Lee County and the scale only goes up to 800 which is considered desert conditions. These are the worst conditions in years. With no rain in the forecast, and our limit of fire suppression equipment it is not a good time to be dealing with anything associated with fire around brush," said South Trail Fire Cpt. Craig Brotheim.

Should the weather conditions improve the next scheduled fireworks show will take place on May 26. The Opening Night fireworks show will not be rescheduled.

The Fort Myers Miracle, proud single-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, is set to begin their 16th season in Southwest Florida. Individual game tickets for the 2007 Fort Myers Miracle season are on sale now at www.miraclebaseball.com. Tickets can also be purchased by telephone at (239) 768-4210.

Tickets for all 70 home dates are available for purchase in person at the Miracle office or by phone between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Fans also may purchase tickets on-line at www.miraclebaseball.com at any time.

The Miracle's on-line ticket system will allow fans to be able to select their exact seat location for each game and print tickets at home.

Publix is sponsoring "Opening Night" on Friday, April 6. All local Publix stores are offering a free ticket good for one general admission. Tickets can be upgraded to a box seat for only $2.00. Tickets may be upgraded at the Miracle ticket office beginning on Tuesday, April 4 at 9 a.m.

Ticket prices for 2007 are as follows: $7 for Box seats ($8 for Fireworks), $5 for General Admission ($6 for Fireworks).
