With Spring Training ending, attention at Knology Park now turns to the defending West Division Champion Dunedin Blue Jays and their quest for a Florida State League title. The campaign for the 2007 league flag begins April 5th against the Clearwater Threshers on the road, with the Blue Jays hosting their division rivals Friday, April 6th at 7:05pm in Dunedin. To mark the home opener, the Blue Jays will have a fireworks display presented by the Dunedin Country Club and Pepsi after the game.
The two teams will alternate home and road dates, and after an Easter break, will conclude their four game series Monday in Dunedin.
Blue Jays manager Omar Malave says signings by the Major League club in Toronto mean several familiar faces in Dunedin.
"It all depends on what happens at the top [of the organization]," Malave said. "This year we signed a lot of free agents at the top and that is the reason why a lot of these guys are coming back."
With plenty of returning players, Malave expects a team that will again compete at a high level.
"We had a pretty good all around team last year, offensively, defensively, and pitching," Malave said. "That was one of the reasons why we went all the way to the finals. We expect to have the same this year."
As the team on the field is set to begin a new year, so is the staff at Knology Park. The front office has renewed their commitment to the fan experience and fans will see affordable ticket packages and improvements to game day promotions.
The Blue Jays are again offering their Silver Jays and Knothole Gang packages to their oldest and youngest fans. The Silver Jays plan is for fans 55 and over, and includes a ticket for each home game. The Knothole Gang is for kids 12 and younger and also includes a season ticket, plus special deals on Saturdays.
Along with season ticket packages, the Blue Jays are offering voucher packs and Thirsty Thursday ticket plans. The voucher pack includes 20 undated general admission tickets, which is good for all games. The Thirsty Thursday package includes a ticket for each Thursday game when the Blue Jays have drink specials at each concession stand.
But what has inspired the most pride throughout the organization is the renovated Cay Clubs Luxury Suites. In partnership with the Clearwater Cay Clubs, the Blue Jays have created luxury suites that offer the amenities expected of a Five Star hotel or resort. The luxury suites include leather furniture, plasma screens, a full bar, and a balcony overlooking the field. They are the perfect for family gatherings or entertaining clients.
