Miracle 2018 Opening Day Roster Announced

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The opening day roster for the 2018 Fort Myers Miracle has been assigned by the Minnesota Twins. The 25-man roster features 13 pitchers and 12 position players, 13 of whom spent time with the Miracle in 2017.

RHP Brady Anderson and RHP Cody Stashak highlight the returning players. They led the Miracle in innings pitched with 113 and 83.1 apiece. Anderson played collegiately at Florida Gulf Coast University.

LHP Andrew Vasquez also returns. He posted a 1.51 ERA in 23 relief appearances, with 52 strikeouts and just 11 walks in 35.2 innings. RHP Tom Hackimer also played a key role in the Miracle bullpen, going 4-0 with a 1.93 ERA in 27 appearances. RHP Sean Poppen made 11 starts for the Miracle in 2017 and went 3-2 with a 3.63 ERA.

The other returnees include RHP Clark Beeker, LHP Anthony Marzi, LHP Alex Robinson, C Mitchell Kranson, IF Brandon Lopez, IF Nelson Molina, IF Alex Perez, and OF Jaylin Davis.

The roster includes three of the organization's top-30 prospects as ranked by Baseball America. OF Aaron Whitefield (No. 19) stole 32 bases and hit 11 home runs for Low-A Cedar Rapids in 2017. He is joined by IF Lewin Diaz (No. 26), who hit 12 home runs for Cedar Rapids and led the Midwest League with 33 doubles. IF Travis Blankenhorn (No. 29) rounds out the trio. He hit .251 with 13 home runs and 69 RBI in 117 games for Cedar Rapids in 2017. All three top prospects are 21-years-old.

Manager Ramon Borrego begins his first season with the Miracle. His club opens the 2018 regular season on Thursday, April 5 against the Charlotte Stone Crabs. First pitch is 7:00 p.m.
