
Minot wins tough contest against Brookings, 4-2

The game between the Minot Minotauros and the Brookings Blizzard was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Minot emerged with a 4-2 win.
Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Jacob Howie secured the win for the Minotauros with a goal in the second period.
Minot was led by Jake McCann, who registered one goal. McCann scored short handed 11:42 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Minot. A hooking call on Michael Bigelbach put the Minotauros on the penalty kill.
Minot surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Minotauros average 1.7 goal per contest. Minot's offense was clicking better than usual and put 33 shots on goal during the game, better than the 21.6 shots per game it averages.
Minot also got points from Troy Degler, who also had one goal and one assist and Howie, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Minot also got a goal from Kyle Kruenegel as well. In addition, Minot received assists from Cameron Rowat, Jake Johnson, Max Pernhem, and Scott Smoot, who each chipped in one.
Brookings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Minotauros to score on any of their three power plays. The 36 shots that the Blizzard put on net surpassed Brookings' average of 29.7 shots per game this season.
The Blizzard were helped by Nick DeCenzo, who grabbed one goal. DeCenzo scored 11:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brookings. Wyatt Schmidt picked up the assist. Conor Andrle also scored for Brookings. Other players who recorded assists for Brookings were Jeff Flicker, Brandon Parker, and Andrew Herlofsky, who contributed one a piece.
Brandon Wildung made 34 saves for Minot on 36 shots. The Minotauros incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Austin Priebe recorded 29 saves for Brookings. The Blizzard incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
