
Blizzard Fall to the Tauros in Brookings

The game between the Minot Minotauros and the Brookings Blizzard was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Minot emerged with a 4-2 win.
Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, andJacob Howiesecured the win for the Minotauros with what would be thegoal in the second period.
Minot was led byJake McCann, who registered one goal. McCann scored short handed 11:42 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Minot. A hooking call onMichael Bigelbachput the Minotauros on the penalty kill which lead to the short handed goal.
Minot surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Minotauros average 1.7 goal per contest. Minot's offense was clicking better than usual and put 33 shots on goal during the game.
Minot also got points fromTroy Degler, who also had one goal and one assist and Howie, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Minot also got a goal fromKyle Kruenegelas well.
Brookings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Minotauros to score on any of their three power plays. The Blizzard out shot the Tauros 36-33.
The Blizzard were helped byNick DeCenzo, who scored his fifth goal of the season. DeCenzo scored 11:05 into the first period to give the Blizzard a 1-0 lead.Wyatt Schmidt and Jeff Flicker picked up the assists.Conor Andrlealso scored for Brookings in the second period to cut the Minot lead to one with 7 minutes to play in the period.
The Blizzard would battle to the end but would come up short, falling to Minot by a final of 4-2.
Brandon Wildung made 34 saves for Minot on 36 shots. The Minotauros incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.Austin Prieberecorded 29 saves for Brookings. The Blizzard incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
