SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota United announced today that it has released forward Pablo Campos. The Brazilian forward spent three seasons in Minnesota and is the all-time leading goal scorer in the modern era of the North American Soccer League. During his time in Minnesota, Campos played an important role in developing the Minnesota United brand both on the field and in the community.

"Pablo has meant a lot to this club throughout his time here," said Minnesota United Sporting Director Manny Lagos. "We knew he was a very talented player when we signed him and he proved to be a tremendously valuable asset both on and off the field."

After winning the NASL Golden Boot and Golden Ball in 2012, Campos joined United in 2013. He, along with several big signings, was brought in following the rebranding of the club to build a new era of professional soccer in Minnesota. He led the Loons in scoring his first year, quickly becoming a fan favorite.

Poised for an impressive year in 2014, Campos' season was cut short after suffering a torn ACL in Minnesota's preseason tour of England. Though he was scheduled to miss all of 2014, Campos made a miraculous recovery and was able to make three appearances off the bench at the end of the season.

"Pablo went through a really tough injury in 2014," said Lagos. "We were proud to help him get through that trying time and he was there to help to remind all of us just how hard you need to work to recover and remain successful in this sport."

2015 saw Campos return to full fitness, pairing up with fellow forward Christian Ramirez to lead the Loons offensively. The duo combined for 27 goals, leading United to its fifth playoff appearance in six years.

In three years with United, Campos racked up 20 goals, six assists, and over 3000 minutes in 56 appearances. He had several milestone moments with Minnesota, including becoming the first modern NASL player to reach 50 career goals.

"From everyone here in this organization we want thank Pablo for his service and belief in our club and our vision," added Lagos. "We wish him the best of luck and hope he does well at the next stop in his career."
