New York Cosmos News Release
New York - The New York Cosmos announced today that striker Yasmani Duk will join the club on loan from Bolivian first division side Sport Boys Warnes. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Duk earned his first cap for the Bolivian national team and scored his first international goal on Nov. 17, 2015 against Paraguay in 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification. From 2013-15 he took the pitch for Bolivian first division side Oriente Petrolero, netting 21 times in 61 appearances for the four-time league champions.
"Yasmani's breakthrough to the national team shows he is playing at a high level," said Cosmos Head Coach and Sporting Director Giovanni Savarese. "He will bring another dimension to our attack."
The 27-year-old No. 9 has competed professionally in his home country for five years, mostly with Oriente Petrolero. He scored seven goals in 38 appearances on loan to La Paz F.C. from 2012-13, and joined Sport Boy Warnes, his most recent club, in 2015.
"This move to New York to join the Cosmos marks the beginning of a new journey for me," said Duk. "I can't wait to contribute to this great team. I'm grateful for the opportunity."
