Minnesota United FC Signs Colombian-American Forward Christian Ramirez

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (January 8, 2014) -- Minnesota United FC announced it has signed California native, and former USL PRO forward Christian Ramirez for the 2014 North American Soccer League (NASL) Season.

"We are very excited to have Christian on board," said Minnesota United head coach Manny Lagos. "We feel he has a ton of potential and he is going to add a lot to the attack of our team. He is a young pro with a great future ahead of him and we can't wait to get him on the field this season."

Born in Garden Grove, California, the 6'2'' Ramirez finished his college career at Concordia University in Irvine, California with 44 goals and 18 assists. While at Concordia, Ramirez was named National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) First Team All-American in 2012 while recording 23 goals and 6 assists and named the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) 2012 Player of the Year. In 2011 Ramirez was named to the All-GSAC First Team while breaking the school record for points in a single game with five goals and three assists.

Ramirez signed with the Charlotte Eagles of the USL PRO in 2013, making his club debut in a match against Antigua Barracuda FC, in which he scored his first professional goal and was named to the USL PRO Team of the Week. Ramirez appeared in 26 matches for Charlotte, playing 1,651 minutes while tallying 12 goals.

Ramirez trained with Minnesota in the summer of 2013 after finishing his USL PRO season.

"I would really like to thank Minnesota and the opportunity given to me this season," said an enthusiastic Christian Ramirez. "I'm really excited to get back to Minnesota and put on the uniform. I'm really thankful for the coaching staff for believing in me and bringing me on board and can't wait to see some of the guys I've met."

Ramirez joins Brazilian striker Pablo Campos, Italian forward Simone Bracalello and Nate Polak as the current 2014 goal-scoring force on Minnesota's roster.

Midfielders: Omar Daley, Floyd Franks, Miguel Ibarra, Michael Reed and Kentaro Takada

Forwards: Simone Bracalello, Pablo Campos and Nate Polak and Christian Ramirez
