Strikers Secure Option for Defender Ivan Guerrero

FORT LAUDERDALE (January 8, 2014) - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers have announced they have picked up their option on Ivan Guerrero for the 2014 season. The defender was a fixture in the back line in 2013, and also led the team in assists with 6 for the season. He started all 14 games in the Fall Season, and 22 of 26 for the year.
"Guerrero is not only a solid player in the back line, but also a team leader, respected by all his teammates," said Strikers Managing Director Tim Robbie. "We are excited to have a player of his caliber back with the team."
Guerrero was signed in 2013, and made his first appearance for the Strikers on April 20th against the Carolina Railhawks. He was named to the NASL Team of the Week 4 times and received NASL Player of the Week honors after tallying a club record 4 assists in the 6-2 win against the Atlanta Silverbacks on October 19th at Lockhart Stadium.
Prior to joining the Strikers, Guerrero had 84 caps with the Honduran National Team, including competing in 33 FIFA World Cup Qualification matched and in 3 CONCACAF Gold Cups.
