Minnesota Lynx News Release
Minneapolis/St. Paul - The Minnesota Lynx are proud to announce the eight high schools that have earned the distinction of receiving the "Lynx Team of the Week" awards, which includes results through Jan. 24.
This is the eighth consecutive week that the Minnesota Lynx have recognized one girls team and one boys team in each of the state's four classes of competition. The program will continue every week throughout the high school regular season.
This week's recipients are:
Girls Basketball
Class A
Sebeka is the Class A Lynx Team of the Week after extending its winning streak to nine games following three wins in the week. The week included wins over Menahga (80-51) on Jan. 18, Wadena-Deer Creek (69-52) on Jan. 21; and Pillager (71-44) on Jan. 24. The Trojans (15-3) last lost a game on Dec. 26, a 78-70 defeat to Pequot Lakes in the opening game of the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Holiday Tournament. Since then, the Trojans have allowed only 47.4 points a game in the nine-game winning streak. The Trojans remain undefeated in the Park Region Conference at a perfect 7-0.
Class AA
Aitkin is the Class AA Lynx Team of the Week after posting a 3-0 record in the week. After a 5-1 start to the season, Aitkin lost three out of four games to fall to 6-4 overall. In the last week, Aitkin pulled off wins over Onamia (52-43) on Jan. 18, Isle (81-49) on Jan. 22, and McGregor (91-40) on Jan. 24. The Gobblers (8-2) are in second place in the Great River Conference, 2.5 games behind first-place Braham.

Wins over Dassel-Cokato (56-43) on Jan. 19, Zimmerman (78-61) on Jan. 22, and Cambridge-Isanti (58-46) on Jan. 24 helped the Tigers (12-6 overall) snap a three-game slide. Two of those wins were against Mississippi 8 Conference opponents, allowing the Tigers (5-5) to move into fourth place in the conference standings.
Class AAAA
Eagan is the Class AAAA Lynx Team of the Week after posting three straight wins in the week, which is the first winning streak of the season for the Wildcats. Eagan scored wins over Rosemount (55-54) on Jan. 18, Rochester Mayo (52-46) on Jan. 19, and Burnsville (86-83) on Jan 22 to improve to 6-10 overall. After losing seven of eight games to fall to 2-9 overall, the Wildcats have won four of their last five games.

Class AAA
Orono is the Class AAA Lynx Team of the Week after three victories pushed the Spartans to 10-4 overall. The Spartans have won six of their last seven games, including a double-overtime victory over Delano on Jan. 15 that kicked off their current four-game winning streak. This week, Orono posted wins over Mound-Westonka (75-55) on Jan. 18, Dassel-Cokato (78-71) on Jan. 22, and Waconia (69-61) on Jan. 24. The three wins, all against Wright County Conference opponents, kept the Spartans (6-0) in first place.
Class AAAA
Coon Rapids is the Class AAAA Lynx Team of the Week following a pair of overtime wins that gave the Cardinals four wins in their last five games. The Cardinals (5-7) opened the season with five straight losses and seven setbacks in their first nine games. After a 68-65 overtime win over Andover on Jan. 18 and another overtime victory (77-73) over Anoka on Jan. 22, the Cardinals appear to be turning their season around.
