Montreal Alouettes News Release

Vero Beach, FL, April 16, 2015 - Following an evening practice on Wednesday, the Montreal Alouettes hit the field for over three hours at Historic Dodgertown Thursday morning for the team's second practice of mini-camp.

As it was mini-camps longest scheduled practice, special teams coordinator Kavis Reed had the opportunity to run a few drills and look at the talent that he will have at his disposal for the important facet of the game he oversees.

During simulated game situations, both the offence and defence had good outings. When a receiver made an impressive catch, the defence would answer with a pass knockdown or an interception. Chris Smith and Geoff Tisdale both pilfered passes.

On offence, Nik Lewis and S.J. Green once again demonstrated their great hands, while rookie Cody Hoffman continued to shine. Ben Cahoon's former protege at Brigham Young University made other spectacular catches and caught the attention of his position coach Anthony Calvillo.

"Ben and myself have been texting back and forth about Cody. He's been impressive so far. He knows what he's doing in terms of the waggle. Most first year guys from the United States that don't know how to approach it, but he seems like a natural at it," said Calvillo. "Then he's been getting open with his routes. It's another great addition to our receiving crew."

A special guest

Former Alouettes offensive lineman Pierre Desjardins attended his former team's practice on Thursday morning. The later, who saw is number 63 retired by the Alouettes, resides only a few minutes away from Vero Beach and stopped by Historic Dodgertown. Head coach Tom Higgins introduced the 1970 Grey Cup champion to the current players which he then addressed, wishing them good luck for this upcoming season.

Tomorrow

The Alouettes will hit the field at 8:50 a.m. for their third and final practice of mini-camp.
