
Miners Snap Boulders' Winning Streak At Three

The New York Boulders saw their three-game winning streak come to an end on Friday night at Skylands Stadium in Augusta, NJ, as the Sussex County Miners scored early and often on their way to a 12-2 Frontier League victory.
The Miners' Chuck Taylor was responsible for a bulk of Sussex County's damage with a five-hit, four RBI night.
His biggest blow coming in the second inning when his bases loaded double scored all three runners to give Sussex County a 5-1 lead.
Sussex County pounded out 15 hits in the win with Audy Ciriaco chipping in with two singles and a double.
Trailing 1-0 in the top of the second, New York leveled the score at 1-1 on a two-out single by Jack Sundberg that scored Ray Hernandez, who had reached third on an error by Miners' centerfielder Nilo Rijo.
The Boulders, down 9-1 in the fourth, got another run back when Tucker Nathans led off with a double and scored two batters later on an infield single by Ray Ramiz.
Nathans, Ramiz and Jack Sundberg each had two hits for the Boulders.
Mike Pascoe took the loss for the Boulders, lasting only two innings and allowing six runs, five earned, on three hits, while walking six and hitting two batters. Pascoe struck out three.
John Cain relieved Pascoe in the third and pitched five innings, allowing six runs (four earned) before giving way to shortstop Austin Dennis, who tossed a perfect eighth inning that included two strikeouts.
Tyler Alexander got the win for the Miners, going six solid innings where he surrendered six hits and two runs, one earned. He did not walk a batter and struck out seven. Tyler Luneke went the final three scoreless innings for the Miners, allowing three hits and striking out seven to get the save.
The Boulders continue their three-game series in Sussex County on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. The series then concludes on Sunday at 2:05 p.m.
