East Kentucky Miners News Release
PIKEVILLE, KY. - Three days prior to its debut, East Kentucky's professional basketball team will host a unique event where fans will have the opportunity to interact with the entire organization. The East Kentucky Miners will host Miner Madness at the East Kentucky Expo Center on Tuesday, Nov. 13. Scheduled for 7-9 p.m., Miner Madness will afford fans the chance to meet East Kentucky Coach Kevin Keathley, players and the Diamond Girls Dance Team.
"This is an excellent opportunity to get out and see the organization as a whole," said Keathley. "We invite everyone to come out and see the players, myself and the dance team all in one night."
Miner Madness is free and open to the public.
A "Name the Mascot" contest will be included as part of Miner Madness.
Everyone in attendance during Miner Madness will have the opportunity to vote on the mascot's name by dropping a ballot in a designated box as they exit the event. The Miners organization will select the winner one day later on Nov. 14. The winner of the contest will receive two season tickets, an autographed team ball, a picture with the mascot and recognition before tip-off of the home opener.
The Miners will play 24 home games inside the East Kentucky Expo Center during the 2007-08 season. East Kentucky is one of four expansion teams in the CBA (Continental Basketball Association).
East Kentucky will open its inaugural season on Friday, Nov. 16 in a road game versus the Pittsburgh Xplosion. Miner Madness will serve as a pep rally and a sendoff for the East Kentucky professional basketball team. In a return game, East Kentucky will host Pittsburgh on Sunday, Nov. 18 in its first home game.
