Minard's Hat Trick Leads Falcons

The Springfield Falcons beat the Lowell Devils 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Paul Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA. Chris Minard led the Falcons with a hat trick, and rookie goaltender Aaron Sorochan earned his first AHL/pro win stopping 27 of 29 shots on goal. The Falcons once again took four of a possible six points this weekend and they have recorded at least a point in three straight games (1-0-1-1).

For the second time this weekend against Lowell, the Falcons built a 2-0 first period lead as Minard scored a pair of goals in the opening frame giving Springfield a two-goal advantage through 20 minutes of play.

Similar to Friday night, the Devils battled back in the second period as Lowell's Brad Snetsinger cut their deficit to 2-1 at 2:01 of the middle frame. Just a minute later, Lowell evened the score at 2-2 when Stephen Gionta scored his fourth goal of the year. The Falcons regained a one-goal lead at 11:33 of the second period when Liam Reddox scored on the power play giving Springfield a 3-2 lead heading into the third period.
