Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa-Parker Milner was voted the most improved Waterloo Black Hawk by his 2008-2009 teammates; his impressive rookie season in Waterloo has yielded an opportunity to play for the Boston College Eagles in 2009-2010.

"Parker dealt with adversity in net last year and the way he played showed his character," said Black Hawks Head Coach P.K. O'Handley. "He won the starting job late in the season, and when we gave him the ball, he ran with it."

Starting 2008-2009 in a back-up role for the Hawks, Milner didn't make his first appearance until the sixth Waterloo game of the season, a 3-2 overtime win against the Lincoln Stars. He finished the campaign with a 20-7-1 record and 2.90 goals-against average. His 20 wins tied for sixth in the USHL, even though Milner made fewer appearances than every other netminder among the top ten in victories. His three shutouts, all in March, were the most in a regular season by a Black Hawk goalie since Matt DiGirolamo blanked three opponents in 2006-2007.

Milner and Black Hawk teammate Patrick Wey will both be freshmen at Boston College in the fall. The 2009-2010 season will mark the ninth consecutive year Boston College has had a former Black Hawk on the roster. Andrew Alberts and Tim Filangieri also starred for the Eagles in recent seasons.
